For people who do not have full mobility or who experience cognitive challenges, technology can aid in completing activities of daily living. Home control systems can open doors, answer telephones and intercoms, operate a host of electronic devices from heating/cooling systems and televisions, to hospital beds, and even turn on and off lights. This technology has to potential to increase independent living for individuals with disabilities.
